So there is only 14 days until I embark on yet another trip of a lifetime. I only got my Visa approved on Monday after a nightmare train trip to Sydney and a platform show in Casino. I did meet a really cool guy named Daniel (like my brother, lol) on the train which made the trip much better. He lives in Sydney but lived most his life in Egypt and he's travelled so much. We pretty much spent the whole time talking about the places we had visited and where we wanted to go.
I was early for my appointment by 3 hours so I managed to walk from central to the botanical gardens to the Opera House then to the Harbour Bridge and back to Martin place with still half hour to spare. It was a great day but as soon as I got to the airport I was ready to pass out after not sleeping for about two nights.
So now all that's left to do is say my final goodbyes and pack!!!

The shadow of the axe hangs over every joy
Isn't it always the way!! I'm finally getting organised, I have booked flights and accommodation and even decided how I want to spend my time in LA and NYC... However I still have not booked my VISA appointment or even considered it really. Should probably get onto that. Also now that its finally so close and I'm all excited, I am beginning to get that feeling of moving on! Generally I love this feeling, I have never been one to stay stagnant, I'm always on the move looking for a challenge, taking new opportunities. This time however I think I have let myself become to still and settled in my current setting. My ability to adapt has gone unused for quite some time.... the problem this time is the people I'm leaving behind. I'm realising just how much I'm going to miss them all. So to those I leave behind in pursuit of experiences unknown:
Andi - You are the best gig buddy ever. When I return we will need to think about our year as groupies, it will be amazing. You are also one of the best people to just chill with and I always find myself laughing. Oh and you are also the best drinking buddy..... lets just go with your the best in general lol.
Owen - You finally got FB so that will make things so much easier... However when I am facing ridiculously over thought problems that may not really exist you will be saved from explaining the simpleness of this for me. I will however miss your ability to push me to new levels of thinking and considering new ideas.
Cass- My dear I will miss everything about you, you are a constant that understands my crazy and you compliment it so well. I will miss our little dates and our epic conversations about every stupid thing we have ever done and considering moving to a new country is not likely to holt my stupidity I'm not sure how I will go without you.
Mother - There are no words for how much I will miss you. I love you.
Jade - You have the worst timing ever and I'm pissed I may not get to meet my beautiful nephew before I go. But I do know that you will make an amazing mother and no little boy with be loved more then yours. Sometimes you annoy me to no end, and you can say some really stupid things but sisters are built in best friends and I'm glad mine was you.
Daniel - Oh the laughter I will miss without you for a whole year. Your comic relief will be missed and so will you in general.
So many people so little words.... Dad I don't see you often enough but I will miss you more from a further distance. Dad, Jen, Will and Grace, I love all you guys and I cant believe ill miss so many soccer games and days out.
And to the person I have only known briefly but is pretty amazing... I can't wait to know more even if I do have to go I feel like not knowing you at all would be worse then knowing and going!

The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page!
Exciting News, I have booked my Flight to LA. I fly out on the 27th of July and arrive in LA on the same day! I got really lucky and paid 1150 for my return flights. Thankyou so much to Lauren Anderson the amazing agent at Student Flights in Garden City for making it so easy!
So even though the flights are booked there is still so much to do. I need to get my visa, insurance, domestics flights and accommodation in LA, New York and Orlando. So much to do and only 4 months to do it in.

Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before!
The evil I am embarking upon this year is AMERICA!!! I have never really been a fan of the States, but ill give it a go and a chance to change my mind. The Disney process is a slow on and mainly consists of a lot of waiting, but then there is suddenly an influx of emails that need you to do a range of things in the next 3 DAYS!!! Today was one of those days... I received an email from the lovely Cameron to tell me I need to send all my documents AGAIN! My passport, student status and police check. all before Friday. Lucky its all sitting in a need little pile.
Other then that slight annoyance haven't really heard much from Disney lately. I think everyone is just trying to book flights and insurance, I'm a last minute girl (thanks to one Robert Caldwell, PS. MISS YOU) so I have looked but haven't made any plans or bookings. I generally have ideas floating round in my head but not much action until the last moment. Dangerous I know.
Ill try and post again soon. Hopefully with something better to say. Xx

"Mousecatraz" REALLY??
I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter. - Walt Disney
So, after hearing about one of the January group being terminated I was slightly worried. He had made it seem like he had done nothing wrong and was fired for no reason. This got me wondering, WHY would Disney spend so much money and time on recruiting international students only to send them packing for the littlest of things?
I decided that I need to know more and after speaking to a few friends in the January group, I found out that he had fallen asleep during training and traditions, and had not been paying attention on the job!!! Now personally if i was to visit a park in which someone like that was incharge of my safety (especially in the water as he was a LIFEGUARD!!) i would be worried. However I still thought it a good idea to see if there was any other cases of termination and found that apart from the guy who wrote mousecatraze, who was terminated for drug possession and four men that were terminated relating to the rape of another cast member, not many had been terminated. Those others that had been however were also terminated for the use or abuse of illegal substances or alcohol and sometimes calling in to often as "sick".
Now this may just be me but why would you take a job when you are willing to call in sick every chance you get?? You can do that at home and its alot less travelling for you. If you are actually sick that often then maybe its not the place for you, it does state that you will be working under pressure and difficult conditions!! Also if you cant hide your hangover and work professionally through the pain then simply don't drink so much the night before work... These are very simple solutions to not so difficult problems.
While looking up the termination rate of WDW ICPers, I also found the original article published that lead to the writting of mousecatraz. So naturally I read it, the comments on it and parts of mousecatraz. Honestly, I feel like these people thought that because it was Disney World it wasnt like a REAL job. They complain about the long hours, the apartment complexes, roommates and managers. Now, I am in no way saying that WDW ICP is going to be MAGICAL and perfect, but I do have what I consider realistic expectations. The first being that the hours will be long, weekdays, weekend and holidays too, and also that the work will be hard. Secondly, we will not be staying at a five star hotel with a maid service. If you think its dirty, then clean it. If you can't handle dorm living then your in the wrong place and if you were born with a silver spoon it may not be to your standards. As for dealing with roommate you dont like, you will just have to get over it. Life is full of people that are going to piss you off...its inevitable, just like human stupidity so work it out and rely on Natural Selection. Finally, as a resident of KGBC (love you all) im just going to say, people what do you think is going to happen when you place a large number of Uni students in the same place to live and work????? YEH, there will be sex and drinking and the outrageously stupid and of course the gossip that comes with all of that. Some things will make you want to laugh and other will make you cry, but take it with a grain of salt, a shot of tequila and either remember it as an experience you made it through or keep shoting until you don't remember a thing.
So after all this Im thinking WDW ICP is going to be just like normal, there will be ups and downs, your will love some aspect while hating others. BUT no one but you can ruin your experience take the good with the bad and work through the horrible until you find the amazing. Now if i go and my experience is as epically bad as the stories i have heard i will eat my own words, but not before i try and make the best out of my situation.
One final thing is to my Disney Recruiter, Thankyou so much for not telling me you would pull some strings and get me a job way beyond my experience level. I probably would not have believed you if you had, but your honesty was appreciated.

My Disney Prince!
So, as many of my amazing friends will tell you I'm really not one to believe in True love and the perfect match for each person. I like realism, the idea that people go through life and they spent periods of there lives with the people that they love in those moments. The people we love come and go, and the love we feel for others changes pretty often. There are people that you never want to let go of and for me they are my friends, as a general rule I don't date people that I want to be around in 10 years and because of this rule the people I love the most are the ones I trust, they are the ones that are there even when you don't expect them to be. One of those people for me is already at Disney, and I am missing him like crazy....we went from being in the room next door, too living in different houses and now too different countries for the next six months. The other I will leave in six months when I go, but I will do it with a smile and the hope that he's somewhere to be found when I get back. The third person will be making the trip with me, so I will have someone amazing to share it all with as we go!!
Having said all this I do have a Disney prince, and yes if he becomes in anyway a real man, I will eat my words and admit to Mel that love may in fact exist.... but that's a long shot. lol. Anyway my Disney Prince is Aladdin. I'll take a magic carpet ride with him any day. Now the reason I'm mentioning this is for all the lady's who want to pick their Disney princes after viewing them in a new light.
